.....just bought a 76' F150. Great motor & suspension, body is hammered. It's a shortbed & my question is, will a stepside bed mount up on a shortbed chassis ? I'm assuming bolt holes might not line up, but are the measurements at least similar ?
Absolutely...they came off the same assembly line. You need to make sure the bed length is the same and the bolts will line up. Make sure you use loctite or another bolt cement when remounting the new bed. Check beneath the bed to make sure there's no rust or oxidation before mounting it and you'll be fine.
